The Somerset Hunterdon Warren Psychological Association (SHWPA) is a regional affiliate organization of the New Jersey Psychological Association (NJPA). The mission of the SHWPA is to advance psychology as a science, as a profession, and as a means of promoting human welfare. The Somerset Hunterdon Warren Psychological Association is open to all psychologists working or living in Somerset, Hunterdon or Warren counties. Our members who are not NJPA members may attend all of our functions, have a listing in our in-house directory, and participate in the work of the committees. If you are an NJPA member, you are also eligible to hold office, chair committees, and have your name listed in a directory made available to the public and other professionals. | There are eight affiliated associations established at the county level in New Jersey with considerable benefit to their members. Involvement at the county level affords psychologists within those counties the opportunity to develop a close network of working relationships with psychologists who are geographically close by. A good professional network means confident, appropriate referrals among colleagues and provides a great forum for sharing professional expertise in specialty areas or learning more about what other psychologists are doing. Affiliated with the New Jersey Psychological Association, these county associations have formed a caucus which has representation on the Executive Board of NJPA, which provides us with an additional means of having our particular interests represented at the state level as well. |
